Hiring: Director of Catering & Conference Services
Location: Midtown, New York City
Pay: $90,000–$95,000/year

Job Summary

As the Director of Catering & Conference Services, you will lead one of Manhattan's premier corporate hospitality operations, overseeing a sophisticated catering, conference services, and hospitality program across a dynamic, multi-floor corporate unit.

This executive leadership role is responsible for the strategic direction and daily execution of all conference services, catering operations, client hospitality, and event experiences. The Director will partner closely with clients, conference planning teams, culinary leadership, and operational departments to deliver exceptional service while driving operational excellence, financial performance, and continuous innovation.

The ideal candidate is a highly visible, solution-oriented hospitality leader with extensive experience managing complex conference centers and high-volume catering operations. This individual thrives in fast-paced environments, builds high-performing teams, anticipates client needs, and consistently delivers flawless execution with an unwavering commitment to service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership for all catering, conference services, meeting support, and hospitality operations across multiple locations within the unit.
Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of high-volume internal and external meetings, conferences, executive events, and catering services.
Lead all aspects of conference services, including meeting room readiness, audiovisual coordination, room sets, client communication, and day-of-event execution.
Develop strong relationships with clients, executive stakeholders, conference planners, and internal business partners to ensure exceptional service delivery and client satisfaction.
Partner with culinary leadership to develop innovative custom menus, seasonal offerings, and customized event experiences based on client needs.
Direct all catering logistics, including staffing, scheduling, food production coordination, transportation, setup, service execution, and post-event breakdown.
Lead, coach, mentor, and develop managers and frontline associates, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement.
Manage departmental financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, labor management, revenue growth, cost controls, and profitability.
Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) that support operational consistency, service excellence, and continuous quality improvement.
Collaborate with Catering manager to optimize meeting scheduling platforms (EMS or similar systems), event workflows, and operational efficiencies.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety regulations, workplace safety standards, and client requirements.
Serve as the primary operational leader during high-profile events, providing real-time decision-making and problem resolution while maintaining exceptional guest experiences.
Identify opportunities to enhance service offerings, improve operational efficiencies, and drive catering revenue growth.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Culinary Arts, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality, conference services, catering, or luxury corporate dining environments, including at least 3-5 years in a senior management or director-level role.
Demonstrated experience leading conference services and catering operations within a corporate, hotel, conference center, or luxury hospitality environment.
Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, labor planning, P&L accountability, and revenue optimization.
Experience utilizing EMS (Event Management System) or comparable conference scheduling software.
Proven ability to lead multiple operational departments while balancing client expectations, service standards, and business objectives.
Exceptional leadership, coaching, and team development skills with a passion for building high-performing hospitality teams.
Experience managing complex event logistics, executive meetings, and high-volume catering operations.
Strong client relationship management, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment while maintaining composure and operational excellence.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and hospitality management systems.
