Job Description:

The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco - one of the country’s largest, privately-held financial institutions that sits at the intersection of banking, economic development and affordable housing is seeking an experienced Director of Public Relations who possesses deep knowledge of today’s banking and national media landscape, with the ability to develop and manage high profile earned media campaigns across our three-state region of Arizona, California and Nevada and nationally. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully and creatively generating top-tier local and national media coverage that supports the Bank’s strategic direction and mission.

Roles and Responsibilities:

In this hands-on role, develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategy including both local and national campaigns that align with the FHLBank San Francisco and FHLBank system priorities
Utilize, build and maintain strong relationships with local and national media outlets, journalists, reporters, bloggers, and influencers.
Collaborate with multiple teams including executive management, Public Affairs, Community Development, Marketing Directors and other leaders to establish cohesive communication plans and ensure messaging is consistent throughout the Bank and across multiple platforms.
Act as our lead Communication Officer representing FHLBank SF with press and other outlets, including as a communication officer with the FHLBank system
Generate local, trade and national coverage for the Bank including our executives
Manage external communications agencies and resources to best serve our strategies and needs
Create, develop and maintain an enterprise PR policy, to guide our center of excellence and direct procedures
Develop and implement crisis communication plans, including messaging, media relations to respond to actual and potential emergencies and effectively inform and mitigate damage to our brand
Monitor and analyze industry trends, as well as track and report on metrics that demonstrate the effectiveness of company PR efforts.
Develop/create written content for use in all outlets.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

10+ years of public relations experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in financial services, GSE or affordable housing industries.
Understanding and experience working with affordable housing, economic development, financial services trade associations, regulatory agencies, local/national lawmakers, or relevant regulatory environment desired.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to lead and manage cross-functional teams and projects.
Strong analytical skills and experience using data to guide decision-making.
Excellent executive presence to influence and guide organization decision making
Capability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.

SALARY RANGE: $180K - $200K
