Full Job Description

The Wichita Art Museum is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented individual with strong numerical and analytical skills. The Accounting and HR Coordinator will be an integral part of the payroll/accounting team surrounded by a premier American art collection. The Accounting and HR Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring accurate employee compensation, smooth payroll operations, compliance with organizational policies, and bridging HR and accounting functions while maintaining meticulous records and reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Process weekly and biweekly payroll for employees.

· Verify employee time records, attendance, and overtime hours. Resolve discrepancies within payroll system.

· Process payroll adjustments and ensure compliance with payroll policies.

· Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll reports.

· Respond to employee questions regarding pay, benefits, and deductions.

· Assist with other accounting duties such as preparing reports, bank and other reconciliations, accounts payable and budgeting.

· Assist with audits and year-end payroll activities, including tax forms.

· Coordinate HR administration, including the annual review process.

· Maintain accurate HR, payroll records, and employee information.

· Other administrative tasks as needed and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.

Required Knowledge: Payroll software and Microsoft Excel, strong numerical, organizational, data-entry skills, high attention to detail and accuracy a must, and must uphold absolute confidentiality at all times.

Experience Required: Previous payroll or accounting experience preferred.

Skills/Abilities: Payroll processing, data entry and recordkeeping, mathematical and analytical skills, communication and customer service, time management, problem-solving, proficiency with payroll systems and spreadsheets.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Talking: Ability to speak effectively and communicate clearly.

Average Hearing: Ability to hear average conversations at a standard level in a museum environment around other employees and visitors

Repetitive Motion: The employee will frequently type on a keyboard continuously throughout the day.

Finger Dexterity: The employee is regularly required to use hands to type on a keyboard and maneuver a mouse.

Average Vision: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust the focus with 20/20 vision (with or without the assistance of eyeglasses/contacts)

Physical Strength: The position involves standard light duties.

WORKING CONDITIONS

General professional indoor museum environment with climate control and adequate lighting. Regular hours worked Monday through Friday. Will need to meet strict payroll deadlines during payroll cycles.
