Discover Recovery is a 26 bed, residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program in Long Beach, WA. We believe each person's recovery journey is unique, so your addiction treatment should be too. We focus on tailored plans of evidence-based therapies and holistic experiences to reconnect our clients with their health, peace, and purpose.

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Intake Substance Use Dependency Professional Trainee (SUDPT) to join our clinical team. As an SUDPT, you will assist in conducting intake evaluations, conduct groups, supporting treatment planning, and providing essential patient care.

This position is full-time and non-exempt. Hours are Thursday - Monday, normally from 8AM - 4:30PM.

Duties

Perform initial interviews and assessments.
Provide initial treatment plans for incoming residents as well as performs biopsychosocial assessments and completes all documentation of incoming clientele through the collection and synthesis of biopsychosocial information from clients, families, referral sources, peers, and others as appropriate.
Able to run groups efficiently and has information to be able to deliver robust psycho-educational materials to support group objectives outlined by the facility.
Is able to run case management office times to assist clients with external phone calls, bill payments, or other miscellaneous tasks that they need to complete that are not strictly recovery related.
Demonstrates competencies that reflect current standards of chemical dependency professional knowledge and skills, and maintains attitudes consistent with professional practice.
Consult as needed with Executive Director, Medical Director, Director of Admission, and other team members.
Possess a working knowledge regarding the delivery of effective drug abuse treatment using evidence-based treatment modalities.
Able to work with diverse populations.
Additional duties as assigned.

Substance Use Dependency Professional Counselor Qualifications/Required Experience:

Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee credential
Means an individual working toward the education and experience requirements for certification as a Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP), and who has been credentialed as a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT).
Respect the confidentiality of all communications required within job duties, including client/employee records and documents, and electronic transmission by voice, data, and wire.
Applicants must provide proof that they are enrolled in an approved school and are gaining the experience required to receive a SUDP certificate.
Applicants understand that they have 6 months to sit for the NCC AP exam after completing all required education and supervised hours for the licensure of the SUDP.
Maintain Washington Department of Health SUDP Trainee Certificate.
Drug-free; no misuse of alcohol or drugs while employed.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience with multi-cultural/mutli-lingual populations and multi-disciplinary teams.
Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from staff and clients
Ability to write clearly and concisely to give direction and information, documenting clinical work
Working knowledge of levels of care, severity levels, ASAM dimensions, stages of change, diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders and the ability to summarize collected data
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Basic computer skills
Strong leadership skills and appropriate boundaries
Willing and able to work evenings, weekends and holidays

Pay: $40,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
