Drug-Free Communities grants are aimed at mobilizing communities to identify and respond to underage youth substance use that are unique to specific communities, as well as change local community environmental conditions tied to substance use. THRIVE PPS, Portland Public Schools' Drug-Free Communities (DFC) grant initiative, is focused on strengthening collaboration among local partners and creating an infrastructure that reduces youth substance use in our 6th-12th graders.
This position is a part-time position (up to 20 hours per week) supporting the goals of THRIVE PPS. The primary responsibilities include facilitating evidence-based substance use prevention groups for students and their families, facilitating school based student leadership groups focused on substance use prevention, supporting data tracking for THRIVE PPS and other grant related activities. This grant-funded role supports the implementation of community-based prevention initiatives and may include additional duties consistent with program objectives and grant requirements as the position evolves.
Basic Function:
Under general supervision, participate in the design, development and implementation and provide direct support to a variety of programs designed to enhance and improve the academic, social and/or emotional conditions of identified PK – 12 grade students; collaborate with parents, caregivers, community agencies, school and district staff and stakeholders to identify, track and monitor program effectiveness; facilitate and lead student centered and related activities, prepare and present a variety of program related documents and reports.

Education and Training:

Experience serving the needs of a richly diverse student and community population is highly desirable.
