Full Job Description

POSITION: Medical Assistant Plastic Surgery Experience Only

DEPARTMENT: Clinical Team

REPORTS TO: Practice/Business Manager

Job Summary: The objective of the role of Medical Assistant is to uphold CosmetiCare’s excellent patient care standards. To achieve success in this role, the Medical Assistant will be required to take direction from the Clinical Team Lead and work effectively with the Clinical team of physicians and LVN’s to ensure optimal patient care.

Education and Experience:

· High School diploma; college degree preferred

· Vocational diploma as a medical assistant and Certified Medical Assistant preferred

· Five years of experience in a medical office working as a Medical Assistant preferred

Essential Skills and Abilities:

· Present a highly professional image and positive attitude in compliance with the company’s shared values.

· Depth of knowledge in the Plastic Surgery and MedSpa industries and aesthetic surgical and non-surgical procedures offered at company

· Working knowledge of the Cosmetic organization structure.

· Ability to actively educate patients on available products, services, price points and specials, pre and post-operatively.

· Excellent communication skills.

· Good problem solving and analytical skills.

· Ability to work as a team member.

· Well-organized with attention to detail.

· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Empathetic with patient needs and concerns.

· Ability to work well with physicians, anticipating their needs regarding patient treatment.

· Extensive knowledge of HIPAA compliance.

· Knowledge of physicians’ credentials and specialties

· Ability to take high quality, focused before and after photos following established guidelines for physician and marketing photos.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care

· Ensuring clinical quality and overall patient experience

· Patient Satisfaction (pre and post-operative appointments)

Clinical/Patient interaction (within the scope of certification)

· Assist physician with a patient’s:

o History and Physical

o Prepare patient for injectables (where applicable)

o Change dressings

o Drawing blood per protocol

o Remove sutures and drains

o Take vitals as requested by physician

· Take photos of the part of the face or body to be operated on; Upload pictures into TouchMD

o Identify candidates for before and after photos that are suitable for marketing use. Enter patient ID into provided Google Doc form and ensure the patient completes the media consent form.

· Conduct a review of the Patient Interest Questionnaire (PIQ) and educate patient on products and services offered at CosmetiCare that either can enhance their results both pre and post-operatively or have been identified in the PIQ.

· Collect completed consent forms

· Prepare blood samples for pickup

· Provide physician’s prescriptions and aftercare instructions

· Manage patient flow by patient priority:

o Emergency patients

o Post-ops

o Consults

o Pre-ops

o Follow-ups

· Escort patient to front office upon completion of visit.

o Schedule patient follow-up appointments with the help of the front office.

· Strictly adhere to patient issue policy with patients expressing concern about their experience in either the clinical or surgical setting. Report to Clinic lead and Practice Manager.

· Complete Pre-Ops:

o Assure all demographic information is collected and entered accurately in NexTech, including:

§ First Name, Last Name

§ Email

§ Mobile number

§ Date of Birth

§ Gender

§ Ethnicity

§ Address with correct zip code

§ Medications

§ Allergies

o Ensure all paperwork is properly filled out, including dates, signatures, initials and witness signatures.

o Ensure all lab work is drawn.

o Ensure completion of all

Administrative

· Assist LVN’s with answering overflow phone calls; answer and filter nursing pages for clinic team.

· Check and respond to voicemails a minimum of 3 times a day (morning, afternoon and evening).

· Prepare all pre-op charts:

o Put all the paperwork together

o Print consent forms

o Prepare lab requisitions

· Call the patient a minimum of 48 hours prior to pre-op appointment to confirm pre-op time; Remind or confirm:

o Patient information

o Verify procedure

o Verify allergies for medications

o Remind patient about completion of payment due at the close of the pre-op appointment

o Medical Clearance (if needed) to be presented at time of pre-op

o EKG (if needed) to be presented at time of pre-op

· Re-schedule pre-ops when necessary.

· Schedule appointments for new and existing patients for non-surgical appointments, as needed.

Secondary duties

· Perform all duties related to medical instrument cleaning and sterilization.

· Notify clinical staff of supplies needed to avoid shortages.

· Take out biohazard waste at the close of business.

· Cross-train and be available for patient concierge.

· Perform other duties and tasks as needed. Additional duties may be assigned by Clinical Team Lead.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
