Full Job Description

Business Development & Community Outreach Manager

About Us

Madison Medical Sports & Wellness is a physician-led, AI-forward multidisciplinary practice delivering premium out-of-network care across 15+ specialty service lines — sports medicine, regenerative therapies, IV infusion, hormone optimization, allergy treatment, and our Athletic Recovery Center. We're scaling aggressively, investing in the people and infrastructure that define the future of premium healthcare delivery. This role is part of that investment.

About the Role

This is a hunter's role for a proven pharmaceutical or medical sales professional ready to bring that same discipline, polish, and relentless follow-up to building Madison Medical's referral engine and community footprint. One day you're in a hospital administrator's office, the next you're at a union hall, a school district wellness fair, or a corporate HR conference room — and you're closing every one of those conversations into a real, trackable outcome: a referring physician, a corporate lecture series, a new modality partnership, a sponsorship, a steady stream of new patients.

We need someone who already knows how to sell into healthcare — who has carried a bag, hit quota, and built genuine trust with prescribers and gatekeepers for a decade or more — and who is ready to turn that skill set toward growing a physician-led, multidisciplinary practice from the ground up. You'll carry a growth mandate and be held to it.

What You'll Own

Provider & referral development — Build and manage a structured referral pipeline with primary care physicians, surgeons, specialists, hospital systems, and allied health providers across all of our specialty lines.
New doctor & modality recruitment — Identify, court, and help bring on new physicians, specialists, and complementary modalities that expand what Madison Medical can offer.
Speaking engagements & lectures — Book, prepare, and often accompany our physicians to lunch-and-learns, in-services, health fairs, and corporate or community lectures that position Madison as the region's go-to multidisciplinary authority.
Community & institutional outreach — Build and manage relationships across a wide network of referral sources, partners, and sponsors (see below) that convert into referrals, speaking opportunities, and long-term partnerships.
Follow-up cadence & pipeline management — Track every relationship, conversation, and commitment in CRM. Nothing falls through the cracks — every touchpoint has a clear next step and a date attached to it.
Initiative development — Design outside-the-box campaigns — sponsorships, community health initiatives, wellness programs, and corporate partnerships — that build brand and pipeline at the same time.
Performance reporting — Track referral source ROI, new provider relationships, speaking engagement conversion, and community initiative outcomes. You know where your numbers are at all times.

Who You'll Build Relationships With

Physicians, Providers & Referral Sources

– Primary care physicians, internists, and family medicine practices

– Orthopedic surgeons, spine surgeons, neurologists, and physiatrists

– Chiropractors, physical therapists, and athletic trainers

– Urgent care and occupational medicine clinics

– Hospital systems, case managers, and discharge planning teams

– Personal injury and workers' compensation attorneys

– Insurance adjusters and workers' comp case managers

Community, Institutional & Corporate Relationships

– First responders — police, fire, and EMS departments and unions

– Union leadership and labor organizations

– School districts — teachers, coaches, athletic directors, principals, and superintendents

– Corporate HR and benefits leaders — for lunch-and-learns, wellness programs, and corporate lecture series

– Chambers of commerce and local business associations

– Youth and adult sports leagues, gyms, fitness studios, and wellness professionals

– Community centers, senior centers, and health fairs

– Local sponsorship opportunities — 5Ks, charity events, and community festivals

What We Require

Minimum 10 years of experience as a Pharmaceutical or Medical Sales Representative (Sales, Retail & Customer Support) — this is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have.
Proven, demonstrable track record of hitting and exceeding sales and growth targets — we will ask for specifics and references
Deep comfort presenting to physicians, clinical staff, and gatekeepers, and navigating healthcare systems and hierarchies
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills — you can make a room of skeptical stakeholders believe in what we're building
Strong multi-tasking ability — juggling dozens of active relationships, events, and follow-ups without dropping any of them
A disciplined, consistent follow-up cadence — you know the sale is in the follow-up, not the first meeting
An outside-the-box thinker who sees partnership and initiative opportunities no one else has thought of
A natural networker with genuine people skills — comfortable working a room, remembering names, and turning small talk into real relationships
Self-directed, high-output work style — you build your own calendar of events, meetings, and outreach without being told where to go
Must be very tech-fluent: CRM (HubSpot or equivalent), Microsoft 365, EMR familiarity, and genuine comfort with AI productivity tools (Claude, ChatGPT — CureMD)
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation — this is a road warrior role
