Full Job Description

Job Summary

Statewide Concrete Pumping is seeking an experienced and motivated Head Diesel Mechanic to lead the maintenance and repair of our fleet of concrete pump trucks, boom pumps, line pumps, support vehicles, and heavy equipment. This position is responsible for overseeing all mechanical operations, ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic skills, leadership abilities, and extensive experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the maintenance and repair of all company vehicles and equipment.
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, air brake systems, and PTO-driven equipment.
Perform preventative maintenance inspections and services to maximize equipment performance and reliability.
Maintain and repair concrete pump trucks, boom pumps, line pumps, trailers, and support vehicles.
Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
Develop and implement maintenance schedules for the fleet.
Manage parts inventory, order necessary supplies, and maintain vendor relationships.
Ensure all equipment complies with DOT, OSHA, and company safety requirements.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and repair documentation.
Coordinate roadside repairs and emergency breakdown response when necessary.
Train, mentor, and oversee mechanics and shop personnel.
Work closely with operations management to prioritize repairs and fleet readiness.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend repairs, upgrades, or replacements.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.

Qualifications Required

5+ years of diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy trucks or construction equipment.
2+ years of supervisory or lead mechanic experience.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatic systems, and electrical diagnostics.
Experience using diagnostic software and electronic troubleshooting equipment.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in varying weather conditions.

Preferred

CDL Class A or B.
ASE Diesel Certification.
Experience with concrete pumping equipment.
Welding and fabrication experience.
Familiarity with DOT inspection requirements and compliance standards.
