Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Attendant to provide essential support and care to individuals with diverse needs in various care settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents through attentive, respectful, and personalized care. This role involves assisting with daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for those under your care. The position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals requiring long-term support, including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, and those experiencing memory loss or neurodevelopmental disorders.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques like Hoyer lifts when necessary.
Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, reporting changes in condition, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Support medication administration and ensure adherence to care plans tailored to individual needs.
Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary requirements and assist residents with meal consumption as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols.
Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being, especially for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities while ensuring safety during transfers and outings.
Follow all safety procedures including CPR and first aid protocols to respond effectively during emergencies.

Qualifications

Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or neurodevelopmental disorders.
Familiarity with care plans, HIPAA compliance, manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts, and safety procedures including CPR and first aid certification.
Strong skills in caregiving tasks such as assisting with ADLs, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and resident monitoring.
Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams including social workers and nursing staff.
Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills tailored to diverse populations requiring senior care or long-term support.
