Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Bookkeeper to join our accounting team in Hackensack, NJ. This is a hands-on role that will provide exposure to core accounting functions in a dynamic real estate property management and construction company environment. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable handling core accounting functions with accuracy.

Duties

Perform a high volume of bank reconciliations accurately and efficiently (must be able to complete both manually and within accounting software)
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with established procedures
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements
Support the accounting team with additional tasks as required, including responsibilities outside the traditional scope of the role

Qualifications

Minimum 4 years of bookkeeping experience
Working knowledge of basic accounting principles
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software preferred
Demonstrated willingness to learn and assume new responsibilities

Preferred (but not required

Experience participating in month-end close processes
Background in real estate, construction, or property management accounting
Experience working with Sage 300, Quicken and Yardi
