Full Job Description

We are an established plaintiff-side law firm dedicated to representing employees in workplace disputes, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage-and-hour violations, and other employment-related claims.

We are seeking an Employment Litigation Paralegal to join our growing team. We welcome applicants at all experience levels, from entry-level candidates who are eager to learn to experienced paralegals who can independently manage litigation support responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced litigation environment. This position is well suited for someone who is interested in developing or expanding their experience in employment law and civil litigation.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Employment Litigation Paralegal will assist attorneys with employment litigation matters, including:

Assisting with cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage-and-hour violations, failure to accommodate, failure to engage in the interactive process, and related employment claims;
Communicating with clients regarding case updates, document requests, discovery responses, depositions, mediations, and litigation deadlines;
Drafting and preparing discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and subpoenas;
Organizing, reviewing, summarizing, and managing client records, personnel files, payroll records, medical records, discovery productions, and other evidence;
Assisting with the preparation of motions, oppositions, mediation briefs, settlement documents, deposition materials, exhibit binders, and trial documents;
Preparing deposition notices, subpoenas, notices of ruling, proofs of service, and other litigation filings;
Calendaring and monitoring court deadlines, discovery deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial dates;
Coordinating depositions, mediations, court appearances, client meetings, and attorney schedules;
Electronically filing and serving documents in California state and federal courts;
Communicating professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, vendors, and other parties;
Maintaining organized electronic and physical case files;
Assisting attorneys with case management from intake through settlement, mediation, arbitration, or trial;
Performing additional administrative and litigation-support duties as needed.

Ideal Candidate Will Possess

Interest or experience in employment law, civil litigation, personal injury, or another litigation practice area;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
Excellent attention to detail;
Strong organizational, time-management, and project-management skills;
Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
Professional and effective client communication skills;
Familiarity with California state and federal court procedures is preferred, but not required for entry-level candidates;
Experience with electronic filing and service platforms is preferred;
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Excel, PowerPoint, and case-management or practice-management software such as Clio;
Bilingual abilities are preferred, but not required.

Requirements

Entry-level and experienced applicants are encouraged to apply;
Ability to commute to Los Angeles, California, specifically Koreatown;
Ability to work in person, with some flexibility for remote work as appropriate;
Prior litigation experience is preferred but not required for qualified entry-level candidates.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability.

Hourly pay: $20.00 to $35.00 per hour.
