Service Department Manager

Dickson Equipment | Dallas, TX | Full-Time | On-Site

PAY: $100k - $120k, DOE

WHY DICKSON EQUIPMENT

Founded in 1988, Dickson Equipment is a well-established dealer and full-service shop specializing in solid waste equipment. We have spent nearly 40 years building our reputation on quality work and standing behind what we sell — and we are still growing. We are centrally located at 4525 Irving Blvd in Dallas, TX.

We sell and service new and used refuse collection bodies (New Way, Curbtender), rolloff and hooklift hoists (Galfab, Stellar Industries), Brush Hawg brush grapples, and all major brands of solid waste equipment. We also refurbish used refuse trucks out of our shop.

This is a stable, long-established company in a specialized, recession-resistant industry.

THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Service Department Manager to lead our shop team of technicians. You will be responsible for keeping work flowing efficiently, ensuring every job meets our quality standard, and making sure our customers are taken care of from intake to delivery.

You will work alongside a dedicated parts department, an experienced sales team, and ownership that is engaged and supportive.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Lead, schedule, and mentor a team of service technicians

- Manage service order intake, job scheduling, and shop workflow

- Coordinate with the parts department to keep jobs moving

- Serve as the primary customer contact for service status, estimates, and repairs

- Oversee warranty submissions and manufacturer coordination

- Maintain accurate service records and labor tracking

- Manage the refurbishment of used trucks prior to resale

- Support new equipment installations and pre-delivery inspections with the sales team

- Monitor shop performance and identify ways to improve productivity and profitability

- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional shop environment

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Required:

- 5+ years of experience in heavy truck, refuse equipment, or hydraulic/mechanical equipment service

- Solid working knowledge of hydraulic systems, truck electrical systems, and mechanical systems

- Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics

- Strong organizational and communication skills

- Valid driver's license

Preferred:

- Prior experience in a service supervisor or shop manager role

- Hands-on familiarity with refuse bodies, rolloff hoists, hooklifts, or similar vocational equipment

- CDL or ability to obtain one
